ThoughtsOnLots.com is focused on producing unique, fact-based articles that inspire critical curiosity and self-education while providing contextual information and resources that encourage actions to be taken to the benefit of life and society. The idea is to develop the philosophy of our daily lives by using psychology and lateral applications of current affairs and technological developments to help people understand what effects them and how, while giving them the opportunity to see how they can affect change themselves.
The Team
Don Berner – Edmonton, Canada – Contributing Writer – Berner was the announcer and producer of “A Time For Jazz”, heard Saturdays on CKUA for a number of years and formerly wrote the column “Jazz Standards” for SEE Magazine. As a musician, writer, and entrepreneur he maintains a busy schedule performing, lecturing, and teaching. In addition to being awarded one of Avenue Magazine’s “Top 40 under 40” awards, Berner has been nominated for the TD Canada Trust Jazz award, a WCMA, and various civic arts awards.
Janis Warren – Toronto, Canada – Contributing Writer – Janis is currently making amends with her hometown of Toronto after a nomadic life lasting 14 amazing years. As the only adopted child of a Sicilian Newcomer and a Newfoundlander, her childhood has inspired much of he writing. Graduating from The University of Toronto with a BA in Sociology at 21, Janis fled the nest for the West of Canada and began her real education, living and learning.
Ryan Uytdewilligen – Vancouver, Canada – Contributing Writer – Born in a small town and raised on a farm in Alberta, Canada, Ryan started his writing early on. He studied broadcasting at Lethbridge College, leading in to copy writing and news reporting. He recently finished a year at the Vancouver Film School where he completed several screenplays and produced a short film. Ryan has written everything from sketch comedy to speeches and loves to put his life experiences and traveling down on the page.
Dina Jenita – Oxford, U.K. – Contributing Writer – Dina was born in Africa, educated in the UK and successfully pursued a 7 year career in Pharmaceutical Formulation. At age 3 she set out on a 2 mile walk from school without the knowledge of parents or teachers and made it home safely. She describes this as her first childhood memory of independence and adventure, and the reason she’s developed varied interests in life. She currently writes, edits and reviews scientific literature for a project in Oxford, UK.
Erika Brisson – Edmonton, Canada – Editor – Born and raised in Ontario, Erika recently moved to Alberta, giving her a unique perspective on both Eastern and Western Canada. She works as a registered nurse, specializing in mental illness. Health issues are very important to her and as such she is working towards her master’s degree. World travel is also high on her interest list and she enjoys learning and being involved with different cultures.
Marissa Hanley – Edmonton, Canada – Editor – A precocious writer by the age of 7, Marissa is now branching out into the editing side before embarking on post-secondary studies.
Maxwell Munsie – Edmonton, Canada – Editor-in-Chief – Before returning to his hometown of Edmonton, Canada, and founding ThoughtsOnLots.com, Maxwell spent four and a half years living in Europe. First, in Oxford, U.K., where he wrote and edited for Oxford University societies, and then, after being picked up by a couple European NGOs as a business planner, writer, and project manager, he lived around Italy and in Dublin, building up knowledge of international policies through a great many pan-European intercultural exchange seminars.
